MY "AMERICANA" PUGET SOUND, SPOKANE, AND MORE PAINTINGS FINE ART COLLECTION
I am a very passionate prolific award-winning fine artist. I've been creating acrylic-on-canvas paintings, pen, ink and pastel sketches and pen & ink line drawings in the friendly "Americana" style for four-plus decades. Samples of the pastel sketches and line drawings are on on my Commission page.
I truly LOVE the dual career path I chose ~ creating fine art pieces and then enhancing them with my digital graphic design skills into prints, cards, calendars, puzzles and more! Digital design has changed the fine art world dramatically since I painted my very first canvas. With software like Adobe's "Creative Suite" (in particular PhotoShop and In-Design), there is almost nothing you can't do with a little patience and imagination.
MY FIRST EXHIBIT ~ I've painted and sketched all of my life. I introduced my art at my first exhibition in the 1960s when I was just 18 through my association with the Holy Names Sisters' at Fort Wright College in Spokane, WA. Visit my Biography page for all the details on my "Life Story."
You'll find details about how I started, my decades-long career, accomplishments, awards, press clippings, charitable causes ~ and more. My colorful family-friendly collection currently numbers over 400 pieces ~ with many more on my "wish" list to complete.
WHAT YOU'LL FIND ON THIS PAGE
Below I've shared a detailed list of all the fine art items available from this web site. You'll also find out how to be on my VIP (Very Important Patron) List ~ plus information about the two mailings I do each year.
2022 2ND ANNUAL MANITO PARK ART SHOW!
On Saturday, June 11th, Manito Park will host its second annual art event on the lawn east of the Davenport Fountain around the time of their famous Plant Sale. My booth will feature over a dozen images of the park and other beloved settings in the Inland Northwest with prints, cards, calendars, jigsaw puzzles and more! I'll also have NEW 2023 calendars and NEW puzzles. Look for more details on ART VENUES page.
UNVEILING MY NEW MANITO PARK PAINTING ~ This year's featured Spring art (pictured in the collection image above) is "Spring Photos at the Lovely Lilac Garden" ~ a celebration of Manito's breathtaking Lilac Garden. It's featured throughout this website on many pages. I'll be unveiling this NEW work at the June 11th Manito Park Art Show. Time spent at the Lilac Garden a frothy, blossom-filled experience ~ especially as the scent of lilacs is such a lovely one. Spring is the BEST time for photography at Manito ~ whether it's graduation pictures, photos of teenagers heading to Senior Proms, wedding images, or just family shots of Easter Sunday, Mother's and Father's Day. Family photos at the park was tradition with us Simpsons growing up ~ and many other Spokane families, I'm sure! Aren't we lucky to live in a city that has such an amazing setting for all of us to enjoy?
SPECIAL EVENT MAILINGS ~ Normally, I send postcards via text, email or print (U.S.P.S.) sharing my schedule of events. If you are on my V.I.P. (Very Important Patron) List, this usually happens twice a year ~ Spring / Summer and for Autumn / Winter / Holiday.

COMING SOON • OVERVIEW #1 ~ 2023 "WASHINGTON WHIMSIES (Gazebos, Pergolas, Windmills, and More)" ~ 2 NEW Paintings
SPRING COVER ~ "LEMONADE & LORIENS AT THE PERRY STREET WINDMILL" • The South Hill, Spokane, WA • Painted March 2019
DETAILS ABOUT THE PIECE ~The Cambern Dutch Shop was one of several windmill buildings constructed by Charles Wood, once employed by architect Kirtland K. Cutter. 13 of these novelty commercial structures were designed and 9 built. This one at 1102 South Perry was in immaculate condition when I painted its portrait.
In the mid-1920s, brothers Robert and Cecil Cambern housed their bakery/dairy business in the windmill buildings until they closed in 1934 due to financial failure brought on by the Great Depression. When I created this artwork, Lorien Herbs & Natural Foods had been doing business here since 1977.
In keeping with the vintage theme of this piece, I paired the windmill with pal Linda Ebner’s green and yellow trailer dressed as a friendly lemonade stand. This painting honored Linda’s milestone birthday and she’s pictured with her husband Joe, lifelong pals John and Maria Herbert, and my husband Doug and me.
Highlight ~ Years ago, the Perry Street windmill was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
AVAILABLE NOW! • OVERVIEW #2 ~ SPOKANE'S MAGICAL MANITO PARK" ~ 1 NEW Painting
SPRING COVER ~ NEW! PHOTOS AT THE LOVELY LILAC GARDEN" • Manito Park on the South Hill, Spokane • Painted February 2022
DETAILS ABOUT THE PIECE ~ Manito's Lilac Garden often finds photographers capturing images for Senior Proms, graduation, engagements, weddings, Easter, Mother's Day ~ and other special occasions.
Developer J.J. Browne introduced Spokane to lilacs in 1906, planting two in his yard. In 2012, Superintendent John Duncan began adding them to the Manito, spawning the trend of folks planting them in neighborhoods.
The he zoo closed in 1938 and the buffalo area became the Lilac Garden in 1941. Spokane began a festival in 1938, adopting the name, "The Lilac City." May's Armed Forces Parade still winds through Downtown.
Highlight ~ "King Ranger" was the zoo's favorite buffalo. When he passed away, the city had him stuffed and added to the taxidermy at the Cheney Cowles Museum ~ now the MAC.
AVAILABLE NOW! • OVERVIEW #3 ~ 2023 "KIRTLAND K. CUTTER'S PACIFIC NORTHWEST LEGACY" ~ 1 NEW Painting
SPRING COVER~ NEW! "BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE CHANCERY BUILDING" • Ornate vintage Chancery Building that once housed the offices of the Spokane Catholic Diocese (Painting in Progress)
DETAILS ABOUT THE PIECE ~ For decades, the Chancery Building housed the business offices of the Spokane Catholic Diocese. The offices recently moved to what had once been the Logan Neighborhood Public Library near Saint Aloysius Grade School on the North Side.
As the financial losses were considerable settling cases of dozens of abuses by the Catholic clergy in the Spokane area with help from the Paine-Hamblen firm, the building was ultimately sold to the Cowles family. The Cowles shared their intention to tear down the elegant historic Kirtland Kelsey Cutter structure and replace it with a new one that would blend with others on the block. The Cowles also hoped to add much-needed housing to the East Downtown District.
Highlight ~ I embellished this portrait with gardens filled with red and white geraniums and blue lobelia, picturing folks strolling on the sidewalk, enjoying the afternoon. Included were friends, Greg and Lori Arpin who both spent a lot of time inside the Chancery Building before its sale.
