CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF CREATING / EXHIBITING 500+ AMERICANA ART PUGET SOUND, SPOKANE (INLAND NW), AND MORE PAINTINGS

FIVE DECADES I am a very passionate, prolific, award-winning artist, creating acrylic-on-canvas paintings, pastel sketches, and pen and ink drawings in the friendly style for decades. See dozens of SPRING INTO SUMMER Americana images throughout this site with over 30 on my COMMISSION page (several NEW). The art (left and peppered throughout this website) portrays Manito Park's FUN Plant Sale Fundraiser!

DUAL CAREER PATH From the beginning, I chose a dual career path creating fine art and then using graphic design skills to convert these into prints, cards, calendars, jigsaw puzzles, and more. Digital design has changed our world. With Adobe's Creative Suite (PhotoShop & In-Design), there's nothing you can't do!

MY FIRST EXHIBIT I introduced my Americana work in Autumn 1975 at the Bellevue Art Gallery near Seattle. Although there were a few small Spokane shows at Holy Names Academy and Fort Wright College, this was my first gallery exhibit as an ongoing artist-in-residence. I unveiled my "227 West 25th" portrait of Spokane's historic Codd House (my favorite childhood home) at my first show there (see my BIOGRAPHY page).

LIFE'S CHANGES Much later in 1997, I met my prince Doug in Bellevue. We married in 2000, and truly lived "happily ever after." Who knew our 25-year window of Joy would end so quickly? Most never knew how tough his 6-year Sarcoma cancer battle was as Doug was such an other-conscious, positive guy. "It's all good," he'd say, regardless of how he was feeling, his engaging grin and "can do" optomism there until the very end, Fall 2023. I'm SO grateful and blessed he chose me Doug was one of the good ones.

Visit my BIOGRAPHY page for more on how my career began and developed over the years. You'll learn about those who helped me (yes, Doug was at the top of that list), my awards, accomplishments, press clippings, involvements with several Washington communities, causes I support, and more. There's still settings and subjects I want to paint going forward, and I hope Dougie's inspiring spirit stays with me.

SMALL CHANGES Below I've shared a detailed list of everything available from this website. I've also shared on how to be on my VIP (Very Important Patron) List plus info on the 1-2 mailings I do each year. PLEASE NOTE Prices haven't changed on most items for over a decade, but you'll find a few small increases this season as art supplies, printing costs, packaging and shipping have risen significantly every year.

I'M SO GRATEFUL TO MY FRIENDS, FAMILY AND PATRONS . . .

2024'S HOLIDAY MARKETPLACES Thank you to everyone who braved the 2024 Winter weather to join me last year. I'm gratefull to all my friends, family and patrons for making 2024 a successful season.

COMING SOON! DETAILS ON 2025 SEASONAL & HOLIDAY EVENTS As 2025 unfolds, please see details on my FALL INTO WINTER website edition for my 50th Anniversary Spokane's Rockwood Center South HillExhibit from Mid-October 2025 thru February 2026. Plus find info on upcoming Holiday "Meet & Greets" and Marketplaces at Arbor Crest Cellars, Rockwood South Hill (TBD) and Manito Country CC.

NOTEAs traveling to Idaho's Panhandle has become too difficult, especially with December's severe icy snow conditions, I'll no longer be participating in this holiday event I've done for over a decade. Without Doug to help me, it's time to play it safe!

BABY STEPS FORWARD Blessedly, painting has helped me take these slowly but surely forward. My hope is that I can continue creating my friendly heartfelt paintings well into the future. You'll find lots of NEW images on cards and in my 2026 calendars, especially my "Cozy Charming Cottage" edition. I hope to be able to introduce some NEW puzzles, too. Check this and my WELCOME and ART VENUES pages for unfolding details. Look for a postcard (digital and / or possible print) as my Rockwood 50th Anniversary art show comes together.

CAUTION! • SUNLIGHT IS THE ENEMY OF ALL FINE ART WITH GLASS THE ENEMY OF CANVAS!

ALL FINE ART, both originals and any kind of reproductions (canvas and fine art paper) lose their intensity if hung where subjected to sunlight. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule for most fine art, although with paper prints, some types of non-glare glass allows this damage to take longer to occur. Unfortunately NOTHING protects completely.

SUNSHINE EXAMPLE I finished an ambitious acryic-on-canvas portrait of a vacation place with lots of famiy and personal details. When I delivered it, the family wanted to display it on the living room's fireplace mantle. I advised them not to, as sun from their picture window and skylight lit part of the art several hours each day. Some time later, they asked me to look at their original to see if I could fix its sun-damage. Sadly, I replied this was an "impossible fix," as I'd have to completely re-paint over half the scene for any kind of seemless match. As I'd warned them about sun damage (plus it was noted on the artwork's back label) this was a tough lesson. Few artist will re-paint, especially if they've warned clients. A client mistake is NOT an artist's reponsibility.

GLASS EXAMPLE I visited a girlfriend who insisted on hanging her fun little acrylic portrait of her kitty in her newly remodeled kitchen a nice fit as it echoed her new colors. Worried about grease spots damaging it, a friend advised her to have non-glare glass installed inside the frame. For the visit, I included a kitty art card with her hostess gift. She was shocked at how different her painting looked next to it in just a few months. Another tough lesson.
